History

Queen Mary has its roots in four historic colleges; Queen Mary college, Westfield College, St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College and the London Hospital Medical College. The Mile End campus is seen as the home of Queen Mary College. In 1915 was the Queen Mary College admitted to the University of London. Westfield College was founded in 1882 in Hampstead. This college was only for women. Queen Mary and Westfield College have come together to form the Queen Mary and Westfield College. In the year 1995, Queen Mary and Westfield came together with St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College (founded in 1843) and with the London Hospital Medical College, this college was founded in 1785. The name Queen Mary and Westfield College changed in 2013 into the name Queen Mary University of London.
