STUDYING IN LONDON

Are you a hard working, partying and independent student?

History
The London school of economics and political sciences was founded in 1895. The decision to create the school was made by four Fabians at a breakfast party at Borough Farm on the 4th of August 1894. The four were Beatrice and Sidney Webb, Graham Wallas and Geordie Bernard Shaw. They want to create a better society, so the aim of the school was the betterment of society. By studying issues and analysing them the Webbs believed to the improve the society in general. The school held their first classes in October 1895 in rooms in John Street. A year later the school moved to 10 Adelphi Terrace. In 1900 LSE was recognised as a faculty of economics in the newly-constituted University of London and in 1901 the Faculty degrees were announced as the BSc and DSc - the first university degrees principally dedicated to the social sciences. The school motto was adopted in February 1922. Suggested by Professor Edwin Cannan, the phrase: "rerum cognoscere causas "means to know the causes of things.
